Always a hot category with collectors, this is a big area to collect in, with

covers issued, past and present, from small, little-known lines to giants,

such as Southern Pacific. It can also be a tough category in that collectors

may wish to only trade their RR covers for other RR covers. There's

something about "Railroads," though, that stirs the imagination in us all.

At least 4,700 are known.
